About Me

My photo
Welcome to my ScandinAsian food blog. A blog about what I like to make in my little Norweigan kitchen, from homemade meals to fun creative sandwiches. My parents gave me the name Sorieya, a Cambodian name, which means sun. I'm originally from the United States. Now I'm currently living in Norway, married to a Norwegian man with 3 beautiful children. It's hard being away from my family back in the States and I miss them everyday. I am not an artist but I love making fun sandwiches for my kids. I am not a professional chef but I love to cook and I love being in the kitchen. I love introducing my children to different kind of international food, introducing food from my childhood and explaining to my kids the history about their culture and food. I love spending those quality time together teaching my little ones how to make bread, Khmer food, and teaching me Norwegian. My Norwegian isn't that great but I do understand just the basics but speaking it, that's another story.

Angry Birds lunch box

For my son's school lunch box tomorrow I made angry birds. I used danish salami, cheese slices, mayonnaise, black olives, slices egg plants, carrots, and Swedish bread served with grapes and cucumber slices. I used babybel cheese ( his favorite and it was on offer at Centra grocery store in Oslo) for the mini angry bird.

A bus sandwich and an apple car

Another fun sandwich lunch for my little man caught a cold. He wasn't feeling so well earlier today. I made his lunch for school tomorrow. A mini bus with cheesy windows, cucumber door, red bell pepper stop sign, cucumber/carrot wheels and with a little apple race car. For his sandwich I used his favorite ham and cheese spread with danish salami and cooked lean ham. This should put a smile on his face.

Miss Piggy Pasta salad

I just had to make this. It's worth making and a great way to get my kids to eat all their vegetables. I made Miss Piggy pasta salad (ham, cheese, hard boil eggs, black olives, lettuce, pasta for her hair, pita bread for her face, red bell pepper for her lips.

Dennis lunch boxes

My son has started his first day of school last week. He is in first grade. I'm so proud of him and yet a little sad because he is my first born. Growing up so fast. Just to let him know that I miss him and love him very much. Made his favorite fun sandwiches for his lunch boxes.
